Sale, sale, sale, sale

If I say it 4 times, is it any bigger of a sale? No, I guess not. That doesn’t keep the monster truck rally from saying “SUNDAY, SUNDAY, SUNDAY!”

We have some really great deals going right now, snag them while they last:

$10 shirts:
Negative Energy
Needs Salt
Freezer of Youth

$10 infant onesies:
Former Prisoner of Womb

Newly reduced:
Inmates for Liquid Soap ($18, was $26)
Craft Girls Get Me Hot ($20, was $24)

Drop by www.clothmoth.net for these deals, and stay tuned in the coming two weeks for new designs for the holidays. As always, shipping is free on orders of just $50. . . less than many shirts cost at the department store!

Pics from Maker Faire Austin 2008

We’ve finally rested up enough from our weekend at Maker Faire Austin to post some pics from the weekend at Maker Faire Austin. We were located directly behind the Lifesize Mousetrap, which started off annoyingly repetitive but ended up charming our pants off. Esmerelda Strange’s theme song, a one (wo)man accordian / kick drum / vocal spectacle, is still running through my head, for better or for worse.

Since I left the camera memory card at home on accident during Renegade Chicago this year, I remembered to snap some shots in Austin so those of you who haven’t seen our setup on the road can get an idea for what we’re doing.

Above, you’ll see the nifty display we crafted from those cool collapsible fabric shelves at Ikea. I’ll be posting more about this and other components of our setup on our newly launched blog at Crafterer.com, where we discuss all aspects of the indie craft show vending experience.

Scott David and Kelly can be seen here, with the 2nd youngest of the ClothMoth family, Adeline (lucky Joshua takes the pictures, so he doesn’t have to appear in them):

Lastly, a quick view from the front of our booth. The event was, quite literally, in a show barn, so the lighting wasn’t optimal for photographers with zero skills:

Nothing more to see here!

ClothMoth coming to Chicago AGAIN

Chicago, we can’t stay away from you. You pull at us with a magnetic force we are not strong enough to counter. We’re uber-wowee-excited to return to Chicago on December 6th and 7th as part of the annual Renegade Craft Fair Holiday Sale.

Scott David will be the ClothMoth-ian holding down the fort at this event. Joshua and Kelly simply can’t miss Jim Gaffigan’s taping for his next Comedy Central special, which we’ve had tickets to forever!

Love ya lots,
ClothMoth

Wow, wower, wowest

Wow. We’ve had a great week at ClothMoth. We just returned home from Maker Faire / Bazaar Bizarre in Austin, which was wonderful. We met many great people, some customers, some other vendors, and enjoyed the wonderful weather. Our new greeting cards, which should be available online this week, were a big hit, and as always we were amazed by the response to our designs. Thanks to everyone who came out!

Our newest design, Goodbye, Mother’s Cookies, has received quite a bit of press coverage, most notably in the blogosphere. Many thanks to SFist.com, slashfoods.com, the Seattle Post Intelligencer, and others that helped make this shirt such a success. . . while it has been awful having to say goodbye to our favorite cookies of all-time, it’s been incredible to have such great people embrace out shirt as a remembrance of an American icon, the circus animal cookie. We still have a few bags of Mother’s circus animal cookies on hand, which will ship free with each order, but supplies are growing scarce so the offer only stands while we have them in stock.

Other news? Gestation Works for Me will be available in toddler sized tees in the coming weeks, and Monkey Business will likely span out to cover toddlers and boys sizes, hopefully in time for the holidays.

We’ll be returning to (hopefully a much drier) Chicago in December for the Renegade Holiday sale at Pulaski Park, details online at www.renegadecraft.com.

Renegade Craft Fair Chicago 2008 - Day One

ClothMoth narrowly escaped Hurricane Ike to trzvel to Chicago for this year’s Renegade Handmade Craft Fair in Chicago, IL. Leaving Texas, and even into parts of Arkansas, we ran into a bit of evacuee traffic, and stopping at a grocery store a few hours outside of Houston we were surprised to find the bread aisle completely empty.

We made it, though. Stopped by the Threadless store on Friday night (nothing exciting) and Trader Joes (also nothing exciting). Then on to the Renegade chaos.

It rained. And rained. And rained. I have a new appreciation for dry feet. Amazingly, people still braved the weather to come out and walk around. Sales were a bit better than I expected given the weather, but definitely not up to par with what we anticipated going in. On a sunny day, this fair is known for having lines outside many of the booths. We’ll just have to try again next year :-)

It’s Sunday morning, and we’re getting ready for what appears to be another nearly identical day to yesterday. Will snap some pictures today of the booth and the festival and post them soon.

Oh, forgot to mention that the rain made running electricity to the booths impossible, so we couldn’t hang out lights, which basically meant closing down at 8pm instead of 10pm as previously planned. But all things considered, getting out a bit early was nice. , , we had time for a hot meal and a reasonable bed time.

ClothMoth @ Maker Faire in Austin, TX

While September finds us in Chicago peddling our wares on the streets of Chicago at the Renegade Handmade Craft Festival, October brings us back home to ATX. We’re pleased to have been selected as a vendor at the Bizarre Bazarre, located on site at this year’s Maker Faire, October 18th and 19th @ the Travis County Event Center and Fairground.

As always, new designs, show-only specials, and much facial hair should be expected.

ClothMoth goes Renegade, Chicago Style

We’re (insert surfer verb here) to have been selected to hawk our wares at this fall’s 6th annual Renegade Craft Fair in Chicago, IL (September 13th and 14th, 2008). Those of you familiar with the weekend long Division St. mecca of indie shopping know it’s pure DIY bliss, albeit sometimes a bit hot outside.

We’re still working out the early details of our presence there, namely what to wear and how many different hair dryers / diffusers to bring with us, but ClothMoth is coming to Chicago with a van full of tees and a front seat full of empty beef jerkey wrappers.

See ya’ soon, windy peeps.
